“My name is Joe Hanauer. Why do I serve on the Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation Board? The answer and the decision to serve are simple. We rely on our police to provide us with a safe community; therefore, they should be able to rely on those they protect to be considerate of their needs.
Policing is a noble profession and we’re fortunate to have true professionals leading and serving on our force. We don’t need media to remind us of the affordability issues in Southern California. Some in our police face this affordability issue every day, especially those with families. Why not, therefore, have our affluent community be there to support our police officers and support staff as special needs occur?
The LBPCF exists to provide funding to our police employees such as emergency medical and personal family issues, scholarships, and other needs which extend beyond what LBPD departmental salaries can support. The Foundation cannot meet its mission without community support from tax-deductible contributions. That’s why I’m involved - to advocate for this important Foundation and our police officers.
