OFFIELD FAMILY FOUNDATION DONATES $25,000 TO THE LAGUNA BEACH POLICE & COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND EMERGENCY BENEFITS ASSISTANCE FUND

The Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation (www.lbpcf.org) announced today that it had received a $25,000 donation from board member Amber Offield and the Offield Family Foundation to further LBPCF’s work to help officers, professional staff and their families. Specifically, the funds will be used for three purposes:

• $10,000 will go toward the establishment of an emergency benefits assistance fund. Modeled after a similar program at the CHP 11-99 Foundation, the fund will provide immediate financial assistance to LBPD employees and their families facing hardship due to prolonged illness, a medical emergency, natural disaster or death.

• $10,000 will be used for vocational or academic scholarships to qualified dependents of LBPD employees.

• $5,000 will be added to the existing John Coutchie Memorial Fund College Scholarship program, which is awarded annually to a Laguna Beach High School student in support of a career in criminal justice.

“As a board member of the Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation, we clearly recognized the importance of supporting our officers, professional staff and their families in times of need,” noted Amber Offield. “I’ve seen the invaluable help to officers and families provided by a similar program at the CHP 9-11 Foundation, and I felt that it was important to bring this same type of assistant to the LBPD.”

“I’m also honored to be able to establish a scholarship program for the children of our officers and professional staff,” added Offield. “Whether they pursue a vocational or academic path, these students are part of the extended LBPD family, and we want to ensure that they are able to realize their post-high school dreams.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Amber and the Offield Family Foundation in setting up these two new initiatives as well as their ongoing support for the John Coutchie Memorial Scholarship,” said Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation president Glenn Gray. “We believe that these donations will go a long way toward not only helping families in needs but helping to hire and retain outstanding officers and professional staff.”

As a federally tax exempt non-profit public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3), the LBPCF is able to accept tax-deductible donations to support its work. Please visit the Foundation’s website at www.lbpcf.org to learn more, sign up for future updates and contribute to the Foundation.
