“My Why”, By Glenn Gray, President of the Board of Directors
My name is Glenn Gray, and I am currently a member of the Laguna Beach Police & Community Foundation.
When I was asked to consider serving on the LBPCF board it took me about a second to say yes! Although I do not come from a family steeped in tradition of law enforcement, in fact my dad was a fireman back in Illinois, I understand the importance and value of living in a safe community. One way to help Laguna Beach be a safe and inclusive community is to support the Police Department and its employees. Having served on the City’s committee that oversaw the allocation of the additional bed tax approved several years ago, (Measure LL), I became familiar with the City’s sources of revenue and its many funding needs and the fact that not all ideas and initiatives can be funded by the City, and this is where the foundation plays a big role.
Thus far, the foundation has helped acquire some much needed equipment and subsidized some important team-building activities; but I really look forward to the foundation providing financial assistance, including scholarships, to the families of the Department. These are just a few things the foundation can do to help our Laguna Beach Police Department recruit and retain the best officers and support staff.
That is my “why” I am involved in and support the Laguna Beach Police & Community Foundation, and hopefully you will too.
